Summer 2005
chapter 1 :
It was the end of the school year in Los Angeles . After the graduation ceremony, before going to university, it was summer vacation. TJ had got a special offer of a campsite in his letterbox. It looked great and cheap . The leaflet said we would never forget our holiday ! A guaranteed week of fun !
So, to celebrate the end of high school, we all decided to go on a camping trip over there , It was one of the oldest places in california « death valley camping ground ». We all knew we would go our separate ways in September in different universities. So , we were determined to make the most of this holiday !
Mathis and Salma were reluctant over the trip because they had heard of strange, scary rumors.
Unexplained missing cases had been reported by the local Sheriff every summer since 1995.
«It's all the more exciting» ! Anthony said. And it’s probably an « urban legend » zipping around the internet.
Let’s hit the road ! said Nolan.
Despite Matt and Salma's reaction, we all started our journey, singing along songs on the minivan , laughing at the teachers we had , remembering pranks , funny stories in class….
Chapter 2 :
We reached our destination in the dark of the night . The campsite looked gloomy and deserted…..Gardens and facilities were abandoned , we were about to drive back to the main highway when , out of the blue , a young woman appeared in front of the van , lit by the headlights. She was tall and slim with long straight blond hair. Her face was pale and her eyes were piercing blue
« Her face looks familiar to me » said Nolan but I can’t tell you why.
Good evening guys , Welcome to my parents’ place. They ‘re away for the weekend , I’m the one in charge.
It’s too late to pitch your tents , let me show you a place where you can spend the night .
The girls wanted to go back
« she's a weirdo » said Assia
We all followed her in silence to an abandoned dormitory.
« Have a good night , I'll see you tomorrow » she said , closing the door behind her.
We started unpacking when Souhila realized she had forgotten her sleeping bag in the van.
She tried to open the door , in vain. …..
we were ACTUALLY locked inside. Matt and Salma freaked out , while the rest of us simply didn't care.
Moments later, A disembodied voice filled the room , loud and metallic. « The Voice. » was inhuman, penetrating . . .
It gives me the creeps , said Gaby
"My dear Friends! Silence, please ….
Everyone was startled. We looked around, looking for who was speaking. The Voice went on(a high clear voice.) A young woman’s voice. Tj , you got my invitation , didn’t you ?

After a long silence , the voice went on : « You are all charged with the following crimes….. »
You, Anthony do you remember what you did in 1998 ?
Nolan exclaimed: Oh my goodness , I know now why the girl’s face was familiar to me !

world hazard

This is what happened to us during our last summer holidays. On July 12th,We were playing together an online game called «World hazards » everything was going well. When suddenly our computer screen went blank.
Maybe a powercut, nothing else. As it was very late at night , we all went to bed.
On the following morning, Moncef got up and looked out of the window. It was snowing , the street was snow covered and he was shivering in his summer pyjamas. Unbelievable on July 13th ! Moncef called for his mom but no one answered.
Actually ,Moncef wasn't in his bedroom but in the « glass elevator » of the CN tower in Montreal, a place he had never been to before !
At the same moment, Tesmine woke up in a tent in the middle of the sahara desert...There was no one , except for a camel and an endless sea of sand. She was hot and thirsty , scared to death.
Yunxiang and Yunhao woke up in class , in an auditorium to be exact. They were listening to a medecine lecture but they couldn’t understand a word. It sounded like Russian. Yes , it was because they were in Moscow Medical Academy ,the First Moscow State Medical University and they were attending an anatomy lesson.
When Bernis opened her eyes, She was wearing a colourful Sari, the typical Indian outfit and she was standing outside the Taj Mahal , staring at the rising sun.
Marwa and Louna were singing in a Gospel choir in a church in Harlem, New-York. They were clapping their hands in rhythm, laughing and enjoying the moment.
Meï-Lin stretched out after a good night’s sleep but she wasn’t in her bed either. She was on a deck chair sipping a cocktail on the top deck of a luxury cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
Thousand miles away , Noam was taking pictures of the Great Wall of China. Like a tourist, far from his home country and his family....
Where was Aliane ? Where did he wake up this morning?
He was lost in a deep forest...somewhere. There were hunters around. He asked one of them. « Where am I ,Sir »?
The man answered. « Was ist das , Herr, Sprechen sie Deutsch ? »
So Aliane realized he was in Germany , probably in the « Black Forest »
Flavio and Victoria woke up on July 13th . It was a fine sunny day in VDA
Victoria's mom called out for her daughter :
« Vic, time to get up it's noon ! »
A few miles away ,Flavio was taking his dog to the park before having lunch with his family.
After lunch, he logged in to their online game , impatient to meet his friends again . When the game started , what he saw on the screen was unbelievable...
Flavio took his phone and dialled Vic’s number………
Vic shouted in the phone :
« Flav , quick , watch the TV news right away ! The journalist has just announced: 10 teenagers are reported missing... Oh , my god , he gave their names, our friends….Flav ,can you hear me ? »
«Yes Vic », said Flavio in a flat voice , « please , log in to our online game »
Their friends were stuck in the game around the world . On the screen , they could see their profile pictures in India ,China ,USA, Canada, Russia, Morocco , in the Atlantic ocean and in Germany, in the screen.
How was it possible... ?
